Slithering into the Year of the Monkey

Subang Jaya, 16th February 2016 - The Year of the Monkey got a rousing welcome at Empire Hotel Subang were treated to a stunning acrobatic lion dance performance at the hotel’s main entrance during Chinese New Year festivities month. Hotel associates and guests gathered at the main entrance to witness the spectacular performance which included acrobatic stunts on poles to the beating of the drum and cymbals.

Dragon dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. Dragons are believed to bring good luck to people who are reflected in their qualities that include great power, dignity, fertility, wisdom and auspiciousness. The movements in a performance traditionally symbolize historical roles of dragons demonstrating power and dignity.

For businesses, the grand Lion dance marked the beginning of the lunar New Year with luck and fortune. To the hotel and its business, the lions presented the ‘platter of prosperity’ consisting mandarin oranges, pomelos and green lettuce.

Apart from performing at the main entrance of the hotel, the lion dance performers stopped by the function rooms, reception restaurants and offices in the hotel for the ritual blessing.
